Comment by Dr. Marcin Ambroziak, MD, a dermatologist

“Side effects happen. In this case, it’s good that only aesthetic and easily repairable. It’s a pity that not everyone understands it, and a global brawl will reduce the popularity of this effective method.”

A few words of a comment by Dr. Marcin Ambroziak, MD, a dermatologist , about the paradoxical excess of adipose tissue after cryolipolysis:

  • It should be remembered and reminded that each treatment method has side effects;
  • Cryolipolysis is a very safe method of non-invasive removal of excess body fat;
  • Its operation is based on the phenomenon of accelerated, programmed death of fat cells at a low temperature;
  • The paradoxical overgrowth of adipose tissue is the growth of tissue in the place where it is frozen, which is the opposite of the intended effect;
  • This has been known for years and is an extremely rare side effect of cryolipolysis;
  • In our center (we had cryolipolysis for the first time in Poland), for several thousand treatments, it happened once;
  • Despite being a complication, it is still a cosmetic defect and not a serious condition;
  • The treatment of this complication is classic surgical liposuction with excellent results.
